Women’s Month
What does International Women’s Month mean to you? This year, we linked with @leafwell.co and Planned Parenthood organizer Diane Chogo to highlight Black women’s experiences with reproductive healthcare and cannabis. Here are their stories:
“I identify as a Black Latina woman. educator. sister. supporter. and lifelong learner.
I’ve experienced migraines at the age of 12, which is also the age I had my first period. The medicines prescribed often made my migraines worse, and in my teen years, I decided to look into more natural remedies.
15 years later, I went to a GYN appt; this was my first time with this doctor. I asked her for more info about PCOS and she gave me this look and said “ you don’t need to worry about that”. Unfortunately, I have a few friends with PCOS and have experienced issues with infertility. At that moment, I felt unheard and I never saw that doctor again.
We should never be denied information. We should always know all of our options and be respected about our decisions over OUR bodies. ”
